« Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:

This summer's trip to Provence in the south of France was equally spectacular, although fewer services were requested by us, and therefore provided by the travel company.  Our travel agent understood our desires very very well, and tailored our accommodations in five different towns and our travels to and from Paris precisely as we needed them to be. We indicated five towns in which we wanted to spend three days each.  He found us very nice accommodations in Avignon, Gordes, Uzes, St. Remy and Aix-en-Provence and offered a lot of very helpful suggestions about what to see in those towns and the surrounding countryside.  Everything went off without a hitch!  This company sends you a Roadbook with the names, places, and vouchers for your transportation and each establishment that you are scheduled to stay in while traveling.  They provide an emergency phone number (which we never needed to use) should you run into any trouble along the way.

Our agent, personally, was very accommodating and responded very quickly to every question and suggestion for changes as we planned our trip ten months ago, and he followed up with us just a couple of days before we departed to France to make sure that everything was "in order."  That's very nice service.  We would certainly recommend this company for any of your customer's travel plans to France.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

There were specific highlights to our trip, but in general, the most enjoyable aspect of the trip was simply driving around the countryside of Provence and making wonderful discoveries around every corner!  The other thing that just really causes one to pause is the extensive, long history of the place - from cave drawings that are 36,000 years old, to Roman era aqueducts and bridges that are truly engineering marvels even by today's standards.  And then there is just something really special to be sitting at an outside cafe, eating your breakfast, and seeing a little store-front across the street where the likes of vanGogh, Cezanne, and Monet once held art exhibitions!  Or to take a ride up into the highlands to discover acres and acres of lavender and sunflower fields.  It's a magical place to visit.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

Nothing really, except to stay longer!  Seriously, we took too much "stuff" with us - we should have traveled lighter, which would have made it easier for us 70-year-olds to manage our luggage. »

« Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:

My wife and I counted on our agent and his team to put together a trip to France to remember and they did just that!  The hotels they selected for us were great properties as well as in just the right location for our exploration, and most were within walking distance of great restaurants. Speaking of restaurants, our agency was quite helpful in providing for us a number of recommendations, several of which matched our own research and were fabulous!!

The transportation they arranged for us was prompt and we always felt comfortable during our travel with them, even the balloon ride!

Our travel company arranged 4 guides for us, 3 of the 4 were exceptional, the other was OK.

I enthusiastically  recommend this travel agency! »

« Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:

Our representative from this travel company was an excellent travel guide, adviser, and concierge.  He was very responsive before and throughout the trip, and everything was organized and executed without any issues.  He also was able to take abstract suggestions of likes and dislikes and turn them into fantastic, unique, local travel experiences that my wife and I will always remember.  I highly recommend this company and this travel representative in particular. »

« Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:

Everything was perfect.  We were met as promised and all of our guides were terrific.  I was very impressed with Stephen's follow up to make sure that everything was going according to plan.

We all loved the trip.  Lyon was great.  Our guides Vladimir and Virginie were wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed their company and the information  they provided. The cooking class was great fun and of course all the wine tastings were superb.

The last day in Lyon we went to Annecy for the day.  Due to potential train strikes we ended up hiring a driver for the day.  If I was to redo this I would have had Stephen make those arrangements in advance.

Colmar was great as well.  The villages were absolutely beautiful.  Benoit was very interesting and had lots of knowledge of the area.  He obviously loves the entire Alsace region and imparted a tremendous amount of information.

My favorite part was Reims.  Les Crayeres was amazing.  Impeccable service and an absolutely beautiful property.  Our guide in Reims was Eric and he was our favorite.  Of course the Champagne made everything fabulous.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

Champagne tastings, the small wineries were great.  We met the wine makers, toured the cellars and were able to watch the process up close.  We also loved cooking class, the walking/food tour in Lyon as well as the beautiful villages of the Alsace.

We also had some wonderful meals.  We tried 2 Michelin star restaurants which were great but enjoyed all of the restaurants that we tried.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

I would have Stephen arrange our trip to Annecy.  It turned out fine but we paid a premium for the driver and he wasn't a guide.

My only criticism is that Benoit's vehicle smelled of smoke which really bothered us. »
